Pro Sound Awards 2017 Rising Star finalists revealed!

PSNEurope is delighted to reveal the shortlist for the coveted 2017 Pro Sound Awards Rising Star award.

Taking place at London’s Steel Yard venue on September 28, the fifth annual Pro Sound Awards 2017 is fast approaching, as the industry prepares once again to honour the very finest people, companies and achievements from across the biz.

Last month we revealed the rest of the 2017 shortlist, and today we can finally reveal our list of finalists for the Rising Star category, which recognises the industry’s most exciting new talent. Last year saw budding studio engineer George Murphy (pictured) emerge victorious, after fighting off some seriously impressive competition.

The winner for this award is selected by the team at PSNEurope sister publication Audio Media International and will be announced on the night.

Tickets for the event are available now and can be purchased here.

So, without further ado, here are our 2017 Rising Star finalists…

Louis Morgan
Louis Morgan graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a First-Class Honours degree in music technology. Since joining Jungle Studios as a runner in 2014, he has quickly earned a place as an assistant engineer. Morgan has built-up a strong body of work and has sound designed and mixed a number of short films and online commercials, including Double Cross, which is currently available on Amazon Prime and Rogues Shoes’ online commercial.

Luke Pickering
Luke Pickering is assistant engineer to producer Paul Epworth and an in-house assistant and engineer at The Church Studios in North London. He began working there just under two years ago after impressing the Church Studios team during a work experience placement. His credits already include London Grammar, The Stone Roses, Glass Animals and The Horrors, with forthcoming records by and James Bay, Jorja Smith, and others.

Will Hoult
As the Red & Rednet product manager, Hoult has a deep knowledge of network audio (audio over IP) and heads up all of Focusrite’s RedNet network audio products, from conception to taking them to market. He also heads up the maintenance of these products.

James Hill
Works at Steel City Studio in Sheffield with owner Phil Gornell and is one of the main, in-house live engineers at Sheffield venue Corporation. Hill is also a full-time touring engineer, with an international tour booked with While She Sleeps, who have chosen him to be their full time FOH engineer and tour manager. The band has recently supported Bring Me The Horizon on their arena tour and have a headline slot on the Pit Stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals.

Jake Miller
With his career starting in Brisbane, Australia as an assistant between 2008 and 2013, Miller then relocated to London and has since worked out of Abbey Road, RAK & Strongroom. Miller has also worked with a number of artists as a producer, mixer and recording engineer, such as Imogen Heap, Dreller, Shy Nature, Jesse Davidson, The Cairos, The Preatures, The Jungle Giants, Beasts, Timberwolf, The Medics, JOY, Spies, Rad Fru, Gung Ho and Woe & Flutter.

Arran Paul
At only 19-years-old, Paul programmed all Dante networking for the The Prince’s Trust Awards, which was recorded as live. This was a fast rig and set up at The London Palladium, setting up on the Tuesday morning for the show the next day at 2pm. It worked first time and with the likes of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the management team from The Prince’s Trust to satisfy, he calmly and confidently took charge of all Dante networking.
